People are more likely to listen to you if you tell them what they want to hear.
People are more likely to follow you if you tell them what they -need- to hear.

Here’s a topic I’d like to cover more often.
I’ve often heard that to become successful, you must first become a person deserving of the success you’re working towards. This is done through personal development, and a pivotal area of personal development is reading the works of those who have been where you’re endeavoring to go. That said, here’s the start to my recommended reading list.
** Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

…more to come
Here’s a little nugget I keep seeing everywhere, and one that has worked for me in all areas of my life.
For people to actively listen to you, they need to have interest. You can create interest by engaging their imagination and creating excitement.
So remember, get people to think - and hypotheticals can be good.

So to briefly vent; Disappointment of the Day: I had several promising appointments lined up today at the local coffee shop. Huge shocker! It turned out to be just me and a cup o’ joe.
So, what does one take from this type of outcome? Well, this would be the opportune time to fall back on all that training gleaned from the years of other’s experience. “Quitters never win and winners never quit” and the like. Giving up now, for such a silly reason (who hasn’t been stood up before?) is pretty much giving up on your dreams. If you’re ok doing that, you probably shouldn’t be in an entrepreneurial position anyhow.
The defining line between the populace and the popular is spirit and attitude. To make your name known, you can not allow fail to be a part of your vocabulary. As author Simon Bailey said “A setback is just a setup for a comeback.” I am thankful for the hardships given me in my pursuit of a better life because it means when I do achieve greatness (which is merely an eventuality, I assure you) I will appreciate it that much more.
Thank you for listening to me rant, now go out there and make it a great day!

Chris Prefontaine and Kimmy Everett interview industry legend Mark Yarnell!
(there’s a few seconds of silence in the beginning of the clip, so please be patient)
Language is the use of speech to convey thoughts and ideas. Many of the ideas conveyed by a single word is the construction of a -thing- using other -things- such that the product is more than the sum of it’s parts. I was recently struck by the power of one word to hold such a vast and complex concept within it’s few simple letters (another ‘product greater than sum’ example); the word Build. I know, it’s rather bland and utilitarian sounding, but that’s only surface deep. Within, this word holds the idea mentioned above; taking parts and pieces and making something new and better.
Why am I going on about this, you ask? Because in life, and especially in business, we must take what resources we have and create what we want. Much like building a house, you need plans, materials and tools to get the final product.
This brings another thought to mind; DIY. “When you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself”. When it comes to working and earning a living, I’ve always felt it’s better to take your future into your own hands, rather than working for someone else’s future. To achieve your dreams, you’ve got to do it yourself!
So to recap, to get from where you are to where you want to be, you’ve got to Build the structure necessary, and for best results Do It Yourself because you can’t count on anyone else to do it for you :)
Now go out there and make it a great day!
